‘Trump will be re-elected if…’: Musk reacts to ex-US President's arrest claim
Elon Musk, billionaire and CEO of Tesla, has suggested that former US President Donald Trump could be re-elected in a landslide victory if he were to be arrested, following reports that Trump may be charged as early as next week. Musk took to Twitter to voice his opinion on the matter, referencing a Fox News report that suggested Trump may be "cuffed".
Meanwhile, Trump has claimed that he will be arrested on Tuesday next week as part of a yearlong investigation into a hush-money scheme. He urged his supporters to protest the move on Truth Social, his social media platform, stating "THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!". However, Trump did not provide any evidence of the expected charges, and the Manhattan District Attorney's office did not respond to requests for comment.
In addition, Trump alleged "illegal leaks" from the Manhattan district attorney's office, claiming they were politically motivated. Despite this, Trump's statement has raised questions as to what the future holds for him, and whether he will indeed face charges next week. If so, it remains to be seen what impact this will have on his political future.
