Mercedes-AMG G 63 6x6
Mercedes-Benz has developed a powerful off-road vehicle called the G 63 AMG 6X6. This show car boasts a unique set of capabilities that enable it to overcome any challenge that nature and the weather may pose. With its 400 kW of power, six driven wheels, off-road reduction gear in the transfer case, portal axles, five differentials, and a tyre pressure control system that operates at world-record speed, the G 63 AMG 6X6 can handle all kinds of terrain with ease. The vehicle's impressive performance is further enhanced by its luxury interior, which provides the driver and guests with high-class comfort.
The G 63 AMG 6X6 combines the best of three worlds: Mercedes-Benz's more than 30 years of off-road experience, the G-Class series production models, and the renowned luxury and high-performance division, Mercedes-AMG. This vehicle is uncompromising, offering absolute robustness, functionality, and outstanding off-road capabilities. The G 63 AMG 6X6 keeps a cool head in the desert and is equally at home in wet conditions. It has voluminous tyres on three axles, vast ground clearance, and an overall height of almost 2.30 metres combined with a width of a good 2.10 metres, making it an imposing sight. Despite its size and weight, the G 63 AMG 6X6 has awesome driving dynamics and almost catapult-like acceleration.
The vehicle's performance is attributable to numerous elements from the proven civilian modular system for the G-Class models from Mercedes-Benz and its AMG luxury and high-performance division in conjunction with a range of elements from the military modular system. The G 63 AMG 6X6 features independent axle suspension, ensuring the best possible adhesion to the surface underneath the vehicle. The two rear axles, positioned only 1100 millimetres apart within the overall wheelbase of 4220 millimetres, lend themselves particularly well to inter-articulation, exploiting the traction potential offered by even the most extremely contoured terrain to the full.
The G 63 AMG 6X6's powerful performance is attributable in large part to the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, which generates 760 newton metres of torque, and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features three modes and automatic double declutching during downshifting. The G 63 AMG 6X6 also has an innovative tyre pressure control system that enables the driver to vary the tyre pressure for the front axle and the two rear axles separately. The system takes less than 20 seconds to adjust the tyre pressure, which is a world record.
In summary, the G 63 AMG 6X6 is a determined and tenacious vehicle that offers an uncompromising combination of power, robustness, functionality, and luxury. It is a true masterpiece of engineering that can handle any challenge that comes its way.
