The European Parliament has formally approved the plan to ban the sale of brand new gasoline and diesel cars (including hybrid and PHEVs) after 2035. After 2035, only vehicles with zero CO2 tailpipe emissions will be sold in the area.

340 MEPs voted in favour of the ban, 279 were against the ban, and 21 did not vote.

However, this does NOT mean you cannot drive your fossil fuel powered car in the EU (or the UK) after 2035; it just means they won't be allowed to sell brand new ones.

I am quite against this ban, because a lot of electric cars are too expensive for widespread adaptions, it's a pain in the assholes to recharge if you do long distances, and some EU countries currently don't have the infrastructure.
