AMG stands for "Aufrecht, Melcher, and Großaspach," which are the surnames of the three founders of AMG, a high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz. Hans Werner Aufrecht, Erhard Melcher, and Manfred Großaspach founded AMG in 1967, and the company initially focused on developing and racing engines for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

In 1999, Mercedes-Benz acquired a controlling interest in AMG, and since then, AMG has become the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz, responsible for developing high-performance variants of their regular models. AMG cars are known for their superior handling, speed, and luxury features, and they are highly sought after by car enthusiasts around the world.
