Ownsilent carbon-ceramic (C/SiC) brake rotors are engineered and manufactured entirely in-house at our own facility — not outsourced, not relabeled. Every rotor starts as raw carbon fiber and is built up through felting, pressing, thermal processing, silicon infiltration, and precision CNC machining before it ever reaches a vehicle. The result is a rotor that is dramatically lighter than cast iron, resists heat and brake fade under sustained hard use, and lasts far longer in service.

Our Process

From Fiber to Finished Rotor

Every stage of manufacturing happens under our own roof. Here's exactly what goes into each Ownsilent carbon-ceramic rotor, in order.

Raw Carbon Fiber

Every rotor starts as raw carbon fiber tow, wound on bobbins and fed from creel racks into our felting and weaving lines.

Fiber arrives as continuous tow, not pre-formed sheet — that gives us control over fiber orientation from the very first step.
Dozens of bobbins are staged on dense creel racks and fed simultaneously into the felting and weaving lines.
Careful handling here prevents filament damage that would weaken the finished disc later in the process.

Preform & Layup

Carbon fiber is felted, woven, and needled into a rotor-shaped preform — the raw structure that gives the finished disc its strength.

Felting machines compress loose fiber into a dense, uniform mat.
A needling process interlocks fiber layers through the thickness of the disc, giving the preform strength in three dimensions, not just in-plane.
Woven carbon fabric is layered in wherever additional directional strength is needed.
Every preform is built to the exact rotor profile before it ever reaches a press.

Molding & Pressing

The carbon-fiber preform is pressed into precise rotor-profile rings under high pressure, ready for thermal processing.

Custom steel molds hold each preform to the exact bore, thickness, and outer diameter of the finished rotor.
Pressing compacts the fiber and removes air pockets and voids that would otherwise weaken the disc.
Pressed blanks are staged and inspected before moving on to thermal processing.

Curing & Pyrolysis

Pressed preforms are cured and pyrolyzed at extreme temperature, converting the carbon-fiber structure into a rigid carbon-carbon disc.

Pyrolysis heat-treats the pressed blank in a controlled, oxygen-free environment.
This drives off non-carbon elements, leaving behind a rigid, porous carbon skeleton.
That porosity is intentional — it's exactly what the next step, silicon infiltration, needs to work.

Silicon Infiltration

Liquid silicon infiltrates the porous carbon-carbon disc and reacts to form silicon carbide throughout the structure — this is the step that makes the rotor carbon-CERAMIC.

Molten silicon is drawn into the pores left by pyrolysis and chemically reacts with the surrounding carbon.
That reaction forms silicon carbide (SiC) throughout the disc, converting it from a carbon-carbon composite into a carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic.
This single step is most responsible for the rotor's heat tolerance and resistance to brake fade under sustained hard use.

CNC Machining

Each disc is CNC-machined to final tolerance — friction face, cooling vanes, and mounting geometry are cut to spec in-house.

Machining a material this hard requires diamond and CBN tooling.
Coolant-flooded cutting holds tight tolerances while protecting tool life.
Every rotor is machined to the exact bolt pattern, offset, and bore of its target caliper and hub.

Ceramic Coating & Finish

A protective ceramic coating is applied and the rotor is finished, inspected, and prepared for balancing and fitment.

The coating protects the friction surface and reduces long-term wear.
Final inspection checks runout, weight, and surface finish against spec.
Only rotors that pass inspection move on to packaging and fitment.

Finished Rotor & Installed

The completed carbon-ceramic rotor, paired with a caliper and mounted on the vehicle it was built for.

Every rotor shown here was manufactured start to finish at our own facility.
Nothing is outsourced, relabeled, or rebranded from a third party.
The finished rotor is dramatically lighter, more heat-tolerant, and longer-lasting than the cast-iron part it replaces.
